High-Availability AEM 6.5 AWS Multi-Region Migration
Tier-1 Multinational Financial Services Group • Banking Infrastructure Modernization
Key Outcomes & Performance Impact
The Challenge
The financial institution ran legacy AEM 6.5 on physical on-premise servers. Peak stock trading volume and quarterly earnings releases frequently overloaded publisher nodes. Software updates required weekend maintenance windows resulting in 4 hours of scheduled downtime per release, violating strict banking SLA requirements and regulatory compliance standards.
Architectural Solution
We designed a resilient, multi-region AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform. Authoring environments were deployed in active-passive standby configurations with Oak Mongo replication, while Publisher tiers were backed by AWS Auto-Scaling Groups and Apache Dispatcher farms behind CloudFront WAF. Blue/Green release automation eliminated all maintenance downtime.
Implementation Highlights
- ✓ Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for 100% automated AWS environment provisioning.
- ✓ Auto-Scaling Publisher Farms responding dynamically to market volatility traffic spikes.
- ✓ Zero-Downtime Blue/Green deployments via AWS Application Load Balancers.
- ✓ FIPS 140-2 encryption & automated cross-region S3/Mongo disaster recovery.
